Wills are used by most people to instruct their family how they would like to divide their property upon their death. If a person dies without a will, his estate is passed intestate according to Missouri law. (You can review Missouri's law of Intestate Succession.) If this matches what the person desires, then he could rely on the law and not draft a will. In most cases however, Missouri's laws on distribution of an estate does not match a person's desires.
